INTRODUCTION
The twenty five page assignment for Critical Thinking, 103, part of the English Department, didn't seem like a difficult project to me. I have written numerous papers with extreme guidelines.
For quite some time I have had a deep interest in the prison system and the putting away of the population, the monies it generates, the justified killing of people, and the management of these State and Federal Penal systems.
I didn't think it was possible to accomplish this penal problem in one semester so I decided to do the water pollution project, one of the topics suggested by Mr. O'Connell, Instructor of the class.
When I started to search the web in the English Department, I spent hours at the computer waiting for nothing to happen day after day. Finally I gave this up and went to the Administration Building, Computer Science Department, where I knew the machines were faster and where it was possible for progress to be made early in the semester so that I would not be rushing around at the end of the semester without a term paper. However, with all that preparation and early work, I find myself in that same place which I had desired not to be. More sad is that I do not have the resources to complete the project this semester and intended. What I do have is massive data which was compiled off the WWW in January, 1997 and currently, as well as a wealth of data from the Campus Library, which was more than sufficient for a solid work.
What I discovered in this project is the incredible problem of pollution and the vast scope and impact it has on the future existence of our entire species. Term papers require a very narrow focus. Our society has become so information pregnant that we have inherited an innate blindness for the big picture, the whole person. It is for this reason that I find it impossible to make that focus, for in that focus, the error of our ways will perpetuate the status quo and impending destruction of humankind. For that reason, I have intentionally made a broad focus so that the truth of the danger which osmosis to all life and the planet can be viewed through the eyes of the many people who have devoted their lives in the specific areas of study, and who have been the stepping stones to technological advancement of this and the century past.
The suggestion was posed to me by Mr. O'Connell that my work was simply copied out of books. I wish to make it clear that in no way was this work produced by simply copying. Portions of this work are shown as an exhibit of the common knowledge in a field of study to shed light on this work exploring the meaning and effect on sustaining life, i.e. uncontaminated food, air and water, and babies of all species. We need to know what is contaminating the food, air and water we eat and drink.
What I have discovered is frightening. Our technology over the past hundred and fifty years inadvertently set a course of self-destruction of human life. We will not continue to be human due to the accelerated contamination of not only food, air and water, but the human DNA.
What is more important for people to understand is that much of what I am going to write about in this paper is known to our Governments, and many, many professions around the world. The many fields have each devoted their own efforts and energies and received large sums of money to study these problems, and to make scientific advancement. There is no doubt that our Governments, both State and Federal, as well as other world governments are aware of these problems. The millions, even billions in grant money, and contracts allocated to these studies to alleviate the problems, are hard evidence of that awareness, and that awareness is also part of the focus of this study, as an additional pollutant of secrecy, and greed at the expense of us all and our very future existence as we know it today.
In analyzing the pollution problems, and the actions of our Governments to solve them, new and more serious tracks are being layed for new horrors for which a clock is ticking like a bomb which will not only rob us of our humanity, but democracy as well, and the ability to bear our own children, and even to die.
Our Governments' actions to solve the problems of DNA contamination by decoding and removing the contaminated gene facilitates/delegates the power of God to a few mortals. Now, for the first time in the history of mankind, God will be a scientist in the laboratory. Our Government and a few people will be able to generate all life in the laboratory. Based on what I have studied about the nature of man, and how man has behaved on this planet for the past forty thousand years, especially from the period 3,000 B.C.E. to the present, there is no period where people in power exercised it for the benefit of all life, but only for the benefit of the leaders. It is because of the history of man garnered from literature, art history, world history, and books, that I am able to draw the conclusion that the decoding of the DNA in itself may not be destructive to our life, but enables a few men to manipulate the birth, and death of us all, and to regulate DNA in the laboratory. In the same way that we inadvertently stumbled into the polluting of our DNA, we now continue to spoil the entire planet for money and are falling head first out of control toward the legislating of life, death and the end to any ideology of democracy. In fact, the power relegated to the few over all we hold dear is slipping away and will soon be past history. This pollution of the human heart and mind in its quest for power over others has not changed in the face of this great danger. Only the level of our hell has increased.
This document is original in its thesis and conclusions. My personal ability to scan vast and broad history and technology is my unique forte vs making a narrow study. A narrow study here would be lethal and I cannot in good conscience do it under any circumstances. This broad scan allows us a clear view allowing us to draw these strings together so that we are not caught with our pants down.
As I mentioned to Mr. O'Connell, if your child is ill and dying, a parent will go to any length to save his child. But asleep, the child will die unawares. We are asleep. The population is asleep. We are dying. We are going to be killed as cancers on the planet.
The paper written by a previous student of Mr. O'Connell indicated that the County of Los Angeles was committed to spend 5 million dollars to educate the public on pollution. This has not happened. It is clear that the pollution crisis is being kept secret. It is clear that educating the public of this crisis will not occur by our State and Federal Governments "for our own good" [death]. Yet, public awareness in this country is critical because of the form of governments under which we operate.
WHAT HAS BEEN PART OF THE HYDROLIC CYCLE OF PLANET EARTH IS NOW HAPPENING IN A TOWER REACTOR
Because this document has through no fault of mine turned into an indictment of the technology of the past hundred and fifty years, and on our Governments, both State and Federal, it is important to clarify that danger and the perpetuation of life has always existed naturally. Survival has always been dubious. A search of our history has shown that extinction of many creatures has preceded us, and we did not inherit a safe environment. It never existed, and very likely will not exist.
What has happened is that it was possible for our form of life to evolve out of conditions which fostered it. Billions of years later, after the hunting and gathering period passed, during which time symbiosis and replication feed upon itself, we developed time to study. We were able to discover things which led to the development of machines creating the industrial revolution. Now we are in the information age.
Somehow, we have to pass through this crisis to a place where the production of food and the maintenance of our society does not interfere with the perpetuation of our life as a species. This includes the entire living planet. The crisis we face today is that very reality. Through our technological giant leaps, we inadvertently contaminated the fundamental process which enables us to remain human, and have contaminated the process that we have come through for all plant and animal life too. This includes the water and the the way the planet inter-reacts with itself.
From the development of cellulose nitrate (celluloid), phallic, polyvinyl, etc. in 1869 to 1927, chemical developments were very slow. From 1927 to 1947, the number of developments speeded up. During this period, polyvinyl chloride, plexiglas, polystyrene, polyester, flurocarbon, and epoxy were developed changing the way we inter-relate to life on a daily basis. The way we consume materials on a day to day basis was revolutionary. Consumer consumption of vinyl raincoats, artificial upholstery and notebook covers of vinyl, plexiglas used for airplane and snowmobile windshields, and taillight lenses; styrene guns, toys, plastic car and airplane models; polethylene for bottles that squeeze, toys, bread wrappers, food containers, and to mix in carpet, may sound boring, but lends to our crisis.
Polyester was used to make fiberglass boat hulls, car bodies, coin embediments. All these consumer products changed the face of our nation and the world. We started having more trash. We started a road to consumer consumption of products which did not disintegrate naturally and quickly. We created practically indestructible trash. In fact, by 2977, 32.6 billion pounds of plastic consumer products were produced. Looking its indestructibility, one could say, we produced 32.6 billion pounds of trash that we couldn't get rid of. The gradual development of our dependence on these consumer products in the home, and for commercial use was the hook. We became dependent on all these products. The hottest temperature used to make our products in this period was 600 degrees Fahrenheit. Why is heat so important? Stay tuned. The manufacturing process created jobs, job security, retirement, savings, 'THE AMERICAN DREAM." It is not a dream today, but a full blown nightmare. I will explain.
It is the heat and mixing that nature accomplished over millions and billions of years, that we now have a hand in, but we do it in hours. Now we can take sand and change it. It is pretty exciting. It occurs in a reactor type tower to create the environment for changing sand into an intermediate such as dimethyldlchlorosllane. "The reaction, which is carried out in a tower-like reactor, actually produces several chemicals which must be separated by rectification. For example, a mixture of dimethyldichlorosilane and methyltrichlorosilane separated from the reactor mixture may be hydrolyzed with water and polymerized to form the silicon resins. The typical silicone resin or rubber has a long chain of alternating silicon and oxygen atoms with side chains and terminal groups, such as methyl groups. Linkages between the chains convert the compound into a solid resin or rubber. A great number of these compounds have been produced by only a few are made commercially." [Reference __].
Why is this important? What is actually happening here besides what I have brought up about creating indestructible trash. It is incompatible with other things in nature here present today. Why. We created something in the tower reactor which would have taken nature millions and billions of years to accomplish to the entire planet in large blocks of the earth deep in the earth and these blocks would have surfaced together and thereby be compatible in different degrees of compositions as it was heated and mixed. In the case of the products which we produce in the reactor tower, which occurs in a matter of hours, we have brought a metamorphosis product into existence which probably would not occur in nature. One isolated item in the tower reactor does not occur in nature naturally.
Another reason this is important is that we change the chain [linkage] of bonds from chain to chain, and the shape of the link, and the way it links to another link. The final result is a "NEW" base material not natural, but created from a material in the tower through heat and mixing to extract from natural products at heat levels of 300 to 400 degrees Centigrade...then that is taken to make other products. What is happening here in hours, takes nature millions and billions of years to accomplish. We stand aside and observe its occurrence. We can take that product, and alter it again in a matter of hours, ad infinitum. What not long ago seemed a revolutionary advance is actually a revolutionary development of trash. It has its used in the interim before it becomes trash.
The capability of our species to change the nature of matter puts us on the brink of annihilation For example, a polymer is a very large molecule formed by joining small molecules called monomers. As the size of the molecule changes, so do the properties change. We are talking not about changing the content, but the SIZE. The properties change merely by changing the SIZE. This in itself is INCREDIBLE. One would naturally imagine that adding more of the same would give you a lot more of the same. NO! According to Walter E. Driver who wrote Plastics Chemistry and Technology (1979), this is not the case at all. He claims that as mentioned above, that when the size changes, the properties change. Now here is another list of boring molecules, which show how the properties change what the form is, and what it looks like or smells like to us as unsophisticated observers. Keep in mind, there is a metamorphosis occurring here. This is within the realm of magic as one would ordinarily observe with the eyes. (We can relate it to the DNA code) It is one thing in one hour, and becomes something else in perhaps another hour. That is what is so astonishing about what the list reveals. The magic of science not just the development of trash which is killing us, but the magic of the metamorphosis occurring before our [the scientists'] eyes. Number of Carbon Atoms Name Form
1 atom molecule Methane Gas
2 atom molecules Ethane Gas
3 atom molecules Propane Gas
7 atom molecules Heptane Liquid
12-14 molecules Oil Viscous liquid
25-50 molecules Wax Weak solid
1,000 molecules Low molecular wt. Flexible solid
3,000-350,000 molecules High molecular Stiff, strong, solid
polyethylene wt.
According to Driver, all the above compounds are straight chain carbon hydrogen molecules. In the field of plastics, rubber, the following references concur and this is common knowledge to specialists in the field. Why is this important? We, in the period which we just passed, the 50's and 60's, the period I was leaving high school, [2956) the time of Elvis Presley [1955], the Beetles, [1957] the drug revolution in this country in the 60's...this is the period that vast changes were made in our chemical revolution which is part of our technological revolution. It is not surprising in the face of these facts that Tim Leary, Aldous Huxley, and Ram Das advocated the experimentation of LSD and made drug use fashionable. If Harvard professors, scientists, gurus and writers are using the stuff, they "WHY NOT" everyone? Here we have another kind of pollution that of the polluting of the minds of the people with self-destructive, mind altering drugs which are physically lethal. Most of the people who did these things died. This mind pollution affected the children. Parents did terrible things to their children, like burning them with cigarettes, molesting them, etc. Child abuse has not stopped, but escalated. It is no wonder that the children are killing back and killing themselves. It is no wonder they have banded together in gangs to form their own survival turf.
Now that we have covered the actuality of observing through our science and technology in operation, the transformation of natural products changing in the tower reactor into new base materials which in the natural process in the world we live, it would take millions, and even billions of years to occur, we have chemicals oozing [leeching] from the new products which have no place in the natural world because they did not come through the process and have no common brothers and sisters in nature or family in the natural world. We have mixed time, space and matter and have benefited. Now, we pay.
ABOVE THE LAW BEHAVIOR PATTERN OF OUR STATE AND FEDERAL GOVERNMENTS REGARDING UNNATURAL RADIATION AND ITS IMPACT ON HUMANS [BIKINIANS IN THE MARSHALL ISLANDS]
A perfect example of unnatural radiation's effect on man and life on the planet can be seen in what happened to the Bikini Atoll, in the Republic of the Marshall Islands which comprises 240 square miles of the total lagoon area. In 1945 President Harry S. Truman directed the Army and Navy to jointly test nuclear weapons "to determine the effect of atomic bombs on American warships." [Bikini History.http://www.bikini atoll.com/history.html]. In February 1946 Commodore B. Wyatt, military governor of the Marshalls asked the Bikinians if they would leave their atoll for a while so that the United States could begin testing atomic bombs for "the good of all mankind and to end all world wars." Kind Juda said: "We will go believing that everything is in the hands of God." In July of 2946 Juda with a U. S. Government delegation viewed the results, in what was called Operation Crossroads, Code named Baker. Juda returned to their temporary abode in Rongerik and advised that the island was still intact, that the trees were there and Bikini looked the same.
Two atomic bombs had been dropped, each about the size of the nuclear bomb dropped on Nagasaki, Japan. Eighteen tons of cinematography equipment and about half of the world supply of film recorded the events of the Able and Baker detonations.
From December 1946 through January 2947, food shortages worsened on Rongerik and the Bikinians were faced with near starvation, something they had not experienced prior to U. S. involvement. Though the natives moved from island to island through the help of the United States, their plight continued to increase.
In January 1954 the beautiful atoll of Bikini was in the process of being irradiated. In 1954 the Air Force and Army set up a weather station to monitor conditions in preparation for Operation Castle. This test would deliver the first air deliverable and largest hydrogen bomb ever detonated by the U. S. The monitoring recorded that Joint Task Force-7 knew that the winds were blowing East from Bikini toward Rongerik Atoll and other inhabited islands where the Bikinis and others were relocated.
The moving forward to detonate was a decision to irradiate the atolls of the Northern Marshall Islands, and to irradiate the people living there. [The people did not know what was happening. The people were used as experiments unawares.] On March 1, 1954 the hydrogen bomb named Bravo was detonated not he reef in the Northwestern corner of Bikini Atoll. A monstrous cloud of nuclear debris shot upward 20 miles and generated winds hundred of miles per hour.
The blast stripped the surroundings of branches and coconuts from the trees. The radioactive cloud moved Eastward as they expected from the 15 ton megaton blast. Radiation increased and all men were ordered below decks and all hatches and watertight doors were sealed. Millions of tons of sand, coral, plant and sea life form Bikini's reef from three islands and the lagoons were sent high into the air by the blast.
Twenty-three fishermen on a Japanese fishing vessel watched the "gritty white ash" fall on them. The men began to vomit, and one man died. The inhabitants did not know what was happening. By Spring of 1954, Biker, Ailnginae, Rongelap, Rongerik, were all contaminated by the American weapons test in the Bikini Atoll. They expended 6.9 and 13.5 megatons of TNT.
The Bikinis were obliged to turn over full use rights to the U.S. Government. [What else could they do?] They were given $25,000 cash, and $300,000 Trust Fund of $5,000 per year at $l5.00 per person per year. The Bikinians had no legal counsel. [I remind you that is in this century and not that long ago.]
By 1967 the U. S. started considering the return of the Bikinian to their island. In 1968 President Johnson promised 540 Bikinians living on Kili and other islands they could return home and ordered Bikini to be resettled.
By 1969 the islanders were told their cleanup was successful and it was stated to them: "There's virtually no radiation left and we can find no discernible effect on either plant or animal life."
The replanting of the coconut trees was finally finished in 1972. It was discovered that the coconut crabs grew older and the shells which were eaten by the islanders were radioactive. The Bikini Council determined not to return to the island because of the conflicting reports.
In 1975 U. S. Radiological tests discovered "higher levels of radioactivity than originally thought." They also discovered the area too hot and the water wells were too contaminated with radioactivity for drinking. The AEC also discovered that the local foods grown on Bikini Island, i.e. pandanus, breadfruit and coconut crabs, were too radioactive for human consumption. Urine samples from 100 people living on Bikini showed presence of low levels of plutonium 239 and 240.
In October, 1975 the Bikinians brought a lawsuit in U. S. Federal Court demanding a complete scientific survey of Bikini and the Northern Marshalls be conducted. Responsibility for U. S. actions shifted between the U. S. Department of State, Interior, and Energy. The Bikinians were unaware of the severity of the radiological danger and its imminence, and remained on their contaminated islands.
In 1977, the radioactive strontium-90 in well water exceeded Federal radiation guidelines for thirty year population doses. An 11 fold increase in the cesium - 137 was found by U. S. Scientists. The DOE told the people to start shipping in food for consumption. By April, 1978 U. S. physicians found radiation levels to be well above U. S. maximum permissible levels.
We know too late what has happened to us as a species. With all this knowledge behind us, in January, 2997, the NRC [Nuclear Regulatory Commission] issued a press release indicating that radiation is mostly natural in the form of cosmic radiation, and that the largest man made source is from medical diagnosis. However, John Gofman, M.D., Ph.D. who founded the Committee for Nuclear Responsibility states: "...ionizing radiation is not like a poison out of a bottle where you can dilute it and dilute it. The lowest dose of ionizing radiation is one nuclear track through one cell. You can't have a fraction of a dose of that sort. Either a track goes through the nucleus and affect it, or it doesn't'. So I came up with nine studies of cancer being produced where we're dealing with up to maybe eight or 10 tracts per cell. Four involved breast cancer. With those studies as far as I'm concerned, it's not a question of "We don't know."
The Doe has never refuted this evidence. They just ignore it, because it's inconvenient. We can now say. "THERE IS NO SAFE THRESHHOLD. IF THIS TRUTH IS KNOW, THEN ANY PERMITTED RADIATION IS A PERMIT TO COMMIT MURDER." [Emphasis Added].
At the same time, we are destroying our species, "The American government has become a machine of the conversion of public assets into private profits, and a big machine of the conversion of private liabilities into public liabilities." Arjun Makhijian, President of the Institute For Energy and Environment Research interviewed in U. S. Nuclear Waste Program in Crisis. Nuclear Guardianship Forum, Issue #3, Spring, 1994 [p.1-6].
Is this on the subject of "POLLUTION?" You bet! Over and over we may observe those who are responsible for looking after our welfare at the highest level of our Government of the United States of America violate the trust empowered by the citizens of this country, and other unsuspecting victims around the world. The Bikinians are an example of a people who have been victimized.
According to a local doctor, Emil Levin, we are drinking "stretched toilet water." He states: "Out of the 100% water being used, only one percent is used for drinking. The rest is for the dishwasher, the car wash, the shower, the bath, the toilet, the washing machine, irrigation and industrial use. It would be too expensive to make separate lines....This water sits sometimes for 6 months or longer in plastic containers and the plastic ...contains chemicals. these chemicals leech out from the plastic into the water." [Reference Emil Levin, M.D. Holistic Medical Center Distribution Packet].
Harvey Wasserman and Norman Solomon with Robert Alvarez and Eleanor Walters chronicled The Disaster of America's experience with Atomic Radiation. 1945-1982 which provides information about how the United States Federal authorities "consistently conducted all fundamental deliberations about the development of nuclear technology in secret, allowing no public debate or education about the costs to human health, as well as denying what the facts of what people personally experienced in terms of their own health being compromised, ruined, and in many cases, life cut short."
Another book Secret Fallout, Low Level Radiation from Hiroshima to Three Mile Island: states: "It was not our physics and technology that had been inadequate, but our knowledge of biological systems and their enormous ability to concentrate toxic agents. [Emphasis Added]. Just as the case of DDT, it was not the amount distributed throughout the environment that was so serious. It was the selective concentration in the food chain and then in the newly forming organs of the rapidly developing young embryo. [Emphasis Added]. Since all the higher animals, including man, must pass through this critically sensitive phase, it was clear that unless the problem was widely recognized and acted upon, man could extinguish himself and all other animals, not through the effect of radiation on the adult, but through the effect on the weakest link in the chain of life-the unborn and the very young." [Emphasis Added].
So, not only am I, a lay person, understanding that we are at risk as a species, through the exposure of the embryo to DNA contamination but all plant and animal life as we know it.
Additionally, in Rachel's Environment & Health Weekly, "...recent scientific studies reveal that plutonium causes genetic damage to humans, but it's a new kind of damage which may not become evident for several generations. In other words, infinitesimal amounts of plutonium breached today may not harm you, but may harm your grandchildren or great grandchildren." What a legacy we are leaving!
What is being cried out time and again is that we are eliminating our species as we know human, animal and plant life to be on the planet. Our Government is quite aware of the problems. They have funded three Gnome labs to decode the human DNA, 3 billion pair of cells with an Intel computer which operates at one trillion calculations per second. In a press release by the DOE, it is expected that 40% of the 3 billion pair of human DNA will be decoded in eight years. I am convinced 100% will be completed in less than two years.
Further, Gnome research is underway on plants. The Department of Energy (DOE), National Science Foundation (NSF) and the Department of Agriculture (USDA) have funded three groups to research systematic large-scale gnome sequencing of a plant named Arabldopsis thallana with twelve million dollars over three years. It is not that our government does not know what the problem is, but that it is our Government's desire that the public not know what the problems are and how serious our crisis is.
That is not all. Radioactive Waste Disposal is categorized in three classes, regulated by the NRC. The Exhibits here will show the irrisponsible continuation of the race to the end of life as we know it. It can only be for money and power, otherwise there would be an immediate halt to continued disbursement of reactor tower products and use of uranium, plutonium, berillium, radiation,
CONCLUSION
We stand before a reactor tower spanning millions, even billions of years, and create a magical metamorphosis that heretofore nature did through the hydrolic cycles above and below the earth's surface. We do it in hours.
How many human lives are lost or damaged? This is of no importance to our trusted leaders.
If you understand this crisis,
If you understand our form of government,
Then you will know that public awareness is critical so that outrage may respond to save us all and the future of life here on here on planet earth.
